A platform technology for fixation of pedicle screws

The Immediate Stabilisation System (ISS) is the application of an implantable polymer sleeve around the pedicle screw. Through the use of ultrasonic energy, the polymer sleeve is moulded into the pores of the host bone, forming a strong and uniform bond with the adjacent bone. The pedicle screw is then implanted in the denser bony environment created, leading to enhanced immediate stability.
